Breaking your phone screen, whether it’s an old phone you’ve grown attached to or a new phone you’ve barely held, can be mortifying. If it’s just a single crack, we usually get by ok for a while, but the phone screen has been compromised so it’s best to get it fixed as soon as possible to prevent further damage to your phone.
iPhone 12 Minis are slightly older generation phones, but not quite outdated, so it’s still possible to get them fixed or have parts replaced as and when they need it. Replacing the screen of an iPhone 12 Mini at a phone repair shop will cost on average £100 which is much less than it would cost to send the phone away to be repaired by Apple – and the wait time is much shorter too.
So, if you don’t have AppleCare+ or simply want to keep the costs down, get in touch with IMFixed today, so you can have your iPhone 12 Mini back up and running in no time.
How Much Does an iPhone Screen Repair Cost?
It can be devastating to break a phone these days as we have all of our personal information on there, from address books and contacts to banking apps and selfies. While it can be easy to fix or replace a phone, it’s an expense that we want to avoid at all costs.
Your first thought after breaking your iPhone screen might be to take it into an Apple store, but if you don’t pay a monthly fee for AppleCare+, then it won’t be a £25 fee to have your iPhone screen fixed, but a massive £239 instead. Plus, the Geniuses are rarely able to fix issues with your Apple technology in-store, so they’ll have to take your iPhone, and wait for it to be shipped back to the phone technicians before being fixed and sent back to the store. So, all in all, it could take 1 to 2 weeks to get your phone back – not ideal if you need to access any important information in the meantime.
The quicker and more cost-effective option is to take your iPhone 12 Mini to a local phone repair shop which can usually have your phone back with you in a few days. At IMFixed, we charge just £90 to replace screens of iPhone 12 Minis and aim to fix all of our phones within the same day, so you don’t have to be without it for long. You can also find out about our iPhone 11 repair costs.
Located in Greater Manchester, we also provide phone fixing services in:
Or, you can post your phone to us from elsewhere in the UK and have it back with you in 2-3 working days.
If you really can’t wait that long and want to keep the costs down even more, you can always get yourself a phone repair kit specific to your model for £60 – £100 and try to repair your phone screen yourself.
Can You Fix an iPhone Screen Yourself?
“If you want something done right do it yourself” is a great motto to live by in most circumstances, however, when it comes to phone repairs, it’s almost always better to hand your broken phone over to a professional. That said, it is perfectly possible to fix your phone screen yourself.
If you have all of the necessary tools, then that’s great! You only need to pay the price of a new phone screen which you should easily be able to find online. But if you’ve never repaired a phone before, you’ll need to get yourself a few tools.
To replace an iPhone screen, you’ll need:
- a pentalobe screwdriver to undo the screws holding the screen in place
- something to heat up the phone to remove the adhesive on the screen such as a hairdryer
- a suction cup to remove the screen
- a pry tool to remove the screen
- duct tape or very sticky tape to remove the screen if it’s shattered into small pieces
There are helpful step-by-step tutorials on YouTube or readable guides on the internet to walk you through the whole process, so if in doubt, you should refer to these. Although if you’re in too much doubt, it really is worth taking your phone to an expert to be repaired professionally. If you lose any of the screws or cause damage to your iPhone in the process of heating it up or suctioning off the screen, it may affect the functionality of your phone, rendering the whole phone useless or making the cost of professional repair much more expensive.
Plus, the price difference between an iPhone repair kit with a new screen and having your phone repaired by professionals is marginal, so unless you know exactly what you’re doing, it’s not the most cost-effective way of repairing your iPhone screen.
Where Can You Get an iPhone 12 Mini Screen Replaced in the UK?
As older phone models quickly become outdated, it can be difficult to get the parts to fix old phones. Often, your local phone shop will have to order in parts that will take a few days to arrive, or they simply can’t get hold of the right gear for your phone. However, at IMFixed, one of the best phone repair shops in the Greater Manchester area, we can easily replace parts and fix older phones. Just take a look at our phone repairs page to see what we can do, and fill in your phone model and issue to get a quote on how much it will cost to have it repaired.
Is it Worth Fixing an iPhone 12 Mini?
The iPhone 12 Mini was only released in 2020, but as technology makes leaps and bounds over a short period of time, some phones can become obsolete rather quickly. However, the iPhone 12 Mini has lots of advantages, from the small model making it easier to hold to the great camera and water resistance.
So, it may be in your best interests to get a newer model if money is no object, as camera quality increases and various new and improved aspects of iPhones are brought out with each newer model. But, if you’re attached to your powerful yet small iPhone 12 Mini, it’s much cheaper to get it fixed than to buy a new one.
Rather than buying a brand new iPhone, you can find refurbished iPhone 12 Minis from £300 to £600 depending on the memory of the phone. So, if your phone is broken and you want to keep the same model, this is an excellent option. However, even £300 is significantly more than the £90 cost of simply replacing your old iPhone screen.
Are Refurbished Phones Good?
Buying second-hand phones can be a nightmare. Maybe they work well internally but are covered in scratches or the former owner’s stickers. Or perhaps the phone looks fantastic in the images online, but when it arrives at your door, you can’t even turn the phone on. That’s where refurbished phones come in.
With second-hand phones, there’s no guarantee that the phone is working or even that you’ll receive the same one that’s pictured online. But with refurbished phones, they’re fixed by professionals to ensure they’re working to their full potential; it’s just like getting a brand-new phone, except you know that it’s been owned before.
